Jack

Meet Jack.. the newest member of our family.

We had tossed the idea of getting a brother for Milo back and forth for quite some time.
We always pushed it to the back of our minds because bottom line, we didn't think we would want two dogs. Most of you can roll your eyes, but Milo was our baby and we weren't quite sure how much we wanted to change that with another dog and not an actual baby. However there was MANY pros to another dog... one of the main pros being that Milo would have a friend to play with while we are at work or had to leave him alone. We had also worried how Milo would react when we had an actual baby, we had heard a few horror stories and were nervous for that day to come.... After thinking it over a few days and calling on a few puppies we saw on KSL we found a cute little brindle dog we "fell in love" with via the internet and HAD to go meet him. After visiting the breeder (who had 3 puppies for sale) we decided that the brindle pup was too big... we wanted one that wasn't going to get bigger than Milo, the brindle puppy was already half Milo's size at 8 weeks old... not a good sign. The runt of the 3 puppies was very cute and we later called the breeder back telling them we would like to buy the little spotted black and white runt of the litter... sadly they informed us that that puppy had been sold, however the all black puppy was still available. In our obsession with the brindle and then the runt of the litter we had completely over looked the all black puppy.. neither of us could recall if we had even held him?? After a few more days of thinking about it we decided that we really liked that breeder (clean, nice house, good looking mom/dad dogs..believe me this matters!) and that we wanted to take another look at the all black dog they had named "Tater." Needless to say we fell in love and arranged to bring Tater home with us.. he was our Jack and we were smitten.

Milo was in heaven the first night. They played and played.. Milo had a new friend and we were so thrilled with how excited he seemed.... until the next morning. Milo then realized that Jack was staying and was hogging all his toys and bones. For the next week it was a roller costar of emotions. Milo hated Jack, hated me... he was in a total depression and it was so hard to watch. He stopped eating and would do nothing but shy away from me and observe every movement Jack made. He was not happy. I was so upset. We just brought this little guy into our family, fell in love with him and Milo hates him.. I knew we would never get rid of Jack but didn't know if we would ever get our little Milo back either.

Finally, after giving extra loves, treats, walks and cuddles.. our Milo returned. He loves Jack and is so very protective of him. They play non stop. Wrestle non stop and when they are done doing that they cuddle to sleep. There are moments when Milo is fed up and needs some space, but what sibling doesn't?

Jack is so much fun. He is such a spunky little puppy. A big ball of energy that hops around like a little Jack Rabbit. He is super social and gets so excited when anyone enters the room. Call his name and he bolts after you to attack you in kisses. He has the cutest curly tail that wags like crazy when he is excited or when he knows he deserves a treat. He also is very ticklish on his stomach, he will roll over for you to rub his belly and then thump his feet like thumper, its so funny. We often call him termite because he chews everything in sight... Potty training has been pretty smooth, we are waiting to get all his vaccinations so being in our townhome complex has been challenging since we are trying to avoid Parvo at all costs... but he will finally be up to date on shots this Wednesday. We have been pretty faithful to crate training but he has recently learned that Milo gets to sleep on the bed so he should too... he will cry and cry until we let him up. When he falls back asleep we put him back in his crate for about 30min until he wakes back up and the process repeats until we are too tired to care anymore. He just wants to cuddle with his brother.

Im sure there will be plenty of Milo&Jack posts to come.. like I have said over and over.. We are in love and are so very happy he joined our family.
