Freeport

Freeport was the first port on the cruise.. I think we were both expecting to get off the ship and have a beach to greet us... instead we had a whole list of places or excursions taxis could take us. We walked around the shops a little while and finally decided to take a taxi to Junkanoo Beach Club.. The first sight of the beach was heavenly.. we were so excited in fact we forgot to put on sunscreen, all day long. We spent the day laying out, walking the beach, collecting sea shells, and playing in the water. There was a hut/bar that we ate at for lunch that had live festive music and dancers... it really set the mood for the tropical island we were on. Before we knew it, it was time to head back to the boat.

We enjoyed a yummy 3 course dinner (more on the food later) and a really funny comedy show... when we started to feel really uncomfortable. It wasn't long until we realized how sunburned we really were.. and only a few hours later that a really bad heat stroke took over my body.  It was a miserable night to say the least.. I was throwing up and shaking uncontrollably. It took everything in my power to fall asleep.. I would say we spent the night awake, tossing and turning, minus the fact that we couldn't toss or turn at all.. so really we were just laying awake all night. Thankfully the heat stroke passed by the next morning, after drinking what felt like gallons and gallons of water. Our burns were caked in Aloe and we were ready for day 2 :)
